Welcome!

This site is maintained by the UF Biology Mentorship committee as a place to aggregate resources related to mentoring. Committee members have found the articles and posts included here to be useful or thoughtful for mentors, mentees, or both.

Mentoring is a key component of life in academia, but few if any academics receive formal training in what mentoring is, how to be a good mentor, or how to identify and have productive relationships with our own mentors. The goal of the mentoring committee in the Biology Department is be to help all department members (from students through professors) improve their mentoring relationships, both as givers and receivers of mentorship, in order to develop a culture of positive mentorship in the department.
